The C2 incorporates two C1PS Power Supply units thatprovide redundancy in the unlikely event of a powersupply failure.
Two AC line cords (one per power supplymodule) are provided, allowing each supply to beconnected to a separate uninterruptible power supply,providing the highest level of reliability in mission-criticalapplications.
An audio alarm provides an aural indicationin the event that one of two power supply modules hasfailed.
The design approach employed by ComNet forequipment mounted withi n the model C2 chassis rackunit with two modular C1PS power supplies, provides forthe elimination of a single-point failure in the event of amajor fault within any module located within the chassisrack.
This is accomplished through the use of automatic electronic current limiting within each rack-mountablemodule, rather than providing the current limitingwithin the power supply unit which supports the powerrequirements for equipment located within the rack.In nearly all competing designs, a major fau lt within amodule, located within the chassis rack, results in thepower supply unit going into a current limiting condition,and as a result, all of the modules within the rack shutdown.
The C2 rack design employed by ComNeteliminates this possibility, as only the faulty moduleshuts down, and the operation of the other modules
